[February 16, 2010] Merwan Saher, CA, appointed Acting Auditor General of AlbertaMr. Fred J. Dunn, FCA, ICD.D, who was appointed as the Auditor General of Alberta on June 1, 2002, retired effective February 15, 2010. He has appointed Merwan Saher, CA, Assistant Auditor General, as the Acting Auditor General effective February 16, 2010. Mr. Saher is currently responsible for the audit work in the ministries of Education, Environment, Finance and Enterprise, and Treasury Board. A search is underway for a new Auditor General. As an officer of the Legislature, the Auditor General is appointed by the Lieutenant Governor in Council on the recommendation of an all-party select search committee and the Legislative Assembly.
