Rob joined the Office of the Auditor General in 2012 and was promoted to the position of Assistant Auditor General in 2013. Before joining the OAG team, he spent 18 years at a large international accounting firm where he gained extensive knowledge in auditing public and private entities, not-for-profit organizations, and local government. During his time in private practice, Rob worked as an agent managing one of the OAG’s large post-secondary institution audits. His depth of industry understanding covers a wide variety of subjects, giving him unique insight into each of the ministries he oversees.
His current audit oversight responsibilities include the ministries of Advanced Education, Economic Development and Trade, Education, Indigenous Relations, Labour, and Transportation. By leveraging his past auditing experience, Rob ensures a thorough and efficient path is followed for each of the projects he oversees. In addition, his contributions guide the development of numerous progressive initiatives within the OAG.
Rob received a Bachelor of Commerce degree with distinction from the University of Alberta in 1994. He became a member of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Alberta in 1998, and received his Institute of Corporate Directors designation in 2016. His career with the OAG is fueled by his desire to deliver vital information to Albertans that can make a difference in their lives and help build a brighter future.
