Auditor General releases results report for 2018-2019
Edmonton, Alberta, Canada … Auditor General Doug Wylie released the annual Results Report for the Year Ended March 31, 2019 for his office, following the tabling of the report in the Legislative Assembly.
The results report summarizes the activities of the Office of the Auditor General over the past year, and reports on the financial statements for the funds allocated to the Office to conduct its work in 2018-2019.
Highlights of the past year include:
- Completion of 157 audits reports on government and related entities
- Issuing 12 new recommendations to government
- A very positive assessment stemming from an independent review by CPA Alberta of the office’s audit practices
- Launch of a new interactive website
The Chair of the Standing Committee on Legislative Offices, Mike Ellis, MLA for Calgary-West, tabled the report in the Legislative Assembly on November 27. The report, along with the 2020-2021 business plan and budget for the Office, will be discussed at a meeting of the Standing Committee on Friday, November 29, 2019.
Appointed under Alberta’s Auditor General Act, the Auditor General is the legislated auditor of every provincial ministry, department, public post-secondary institution, and most provincial agencies, boards, commissions, and regulated funds. The audits conducted by the Office of the Auditor General report on how government is managing its responsibilities and the province’s resources. Through our audit reports, we provide independent assurance to the 87 Members of the Legislative Assembly of Alberta, and the people of Alberta, that public money is spent properly and provides value.
