Auditor General to attend Standing Committee on Public Accounts Meeting with Energy and Minerals and AER

The Standing Committee on Public Accounts is scheduled to meet on Tuesday, March 26 at 8 a.m. with Energy and Minerals and the Alberta Energy Regulator about the ministry’s 2022–2023 annual report and the outstanding recommendations from our office. Auditor General Doug Wylie and Assistant Auditor General Eric Leonty will attend the meeting as support to the committee members.

There are no outstanding recommendations to the department. However, there are 10 outstanding recommendations to the Alberta Energy Regulator including nine from our March 2023 Liability Management of (non-Oil sands) and Gas Infrastructure report, and one from our June 2021 Processes to Provide Information About Government’s Environmental Liabilities report.

The Standing Committee on Public Accounts reviews the reports of the Auditor General of Alberta and the public accounts of the province. Appointed under the Auditor General Act, the Auditor General is an Officer of the Legislative Assembly and is the auditor of the Consolidated Financial Statements of the Province of Alberta and most provincial agencies, boards, commissions, and regulated funds.
