The Standing Committee on Public Accounts is scheduled to meet on Tuesday, April 29 to discuss the Auditor General’s July 2024 Surface Water Management performance audit.

The audit looked at the processes that the department uses to manage surface water allocation and use, and its public reporting on managing surface water. The Auditor General made three outstanding recommendations to the department. They include:

  • establish process to identify when to develop, assess, and update water conversation objectives
  • improve licensing and compliance-monitoring processes
  • publicly report relevant and reliable information on managing surface water

Understanding the roles of the Auditor General and PAC

The Auditor General works as a trusted advisor to the Standing Committee on Public Accounts (PAC) in its review of government spending.
