Auditor General to attend Public Accounts Committee meeting with Public Safety and Emergency Services

The Standing Committee on Public Accounts is scheduled to meet on Tuesday, May 21 at 8 a.m. with Public Safety and Emergency Services about the ministry’s 2022–2023 annual report and the outstanding recommendations from our office. Auditor General Doug Wylie and Assistant Auditor General Patty Hayes will attend the meeting as support to the committee members.

There are three outstanding recommendations that are not ready for assessment. They include:

• a 2016 recommendation related to the Victims of Crime and Public Safety Fund (repeated in 2021)
• two 2020 recommendations related to the Provincial Hazard Assessment for Emergency Management.

The Standing Committee on Public Accounts reviews the reports of the Auditor General of Alberta and the public accounts of the province. Appointed under the Auditor General Act, the Auditor General is an Officer of the Legislative Assembly and is the auditor of the Consolidated Financial Statements of the Province of Alberta and most provincial agencies, boards, commissions, and regulated funds.
