Office of the Auditor General to attend Public Accounts Committee Meeting with Technology and Innovation

The Standing Committee on Public Accounts is scheduled to meet on Tuesday, November 19 at 8 a.m. with Technology and Innovation about the ministry’s 2023–2024 annual report and the outstanding recommendations from our office. The Office of the Auditor General will attend the meeting as support to the committee members.

There are seven outstanding recommendations to the department, including:

• four July 2024 recommendations related to processes to manage users and provide secure access through Alberta.ca Accounts to online government programs and services.
• two November 2021 recommendations related to improving user access controls and Alberta Innovates’ processes to report on value generation.
• an October 2012 recommendation to assess risk and improve oversight of information assets.

The committee, made up of MLAs from all political parties, uses our reports to examine how government has accounted for and used public funds, and how it is acting on our recommendations.
